Mr. B’s Bistro is 30!
Friday, Jul 17th, 2009
New Orleans, La. (July 13, 2009) – In the summer of 1979 – while some may have been watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show, listening to Y.M.C.A. by the Village People, or still bummed over the police strike cancelling Mardi Gras – Mr. B’s was making a grand entrance into the New Orleans restaurant scene and it hasn’t been the same since.
Mr. B’s Bistro, located at the intersection of Royal and Iberville Streets in the heart of the French Quarter, one of New Orleans most celebrated food corners. In 1868, this once quiet corner was transformed into Solari’s Market; New Orleanians came from all over town to visit the soda fountain/lunch counter and to shop in the specialty gourmet grocery. Solari’s closed in 1965 and fourteen years later Cindy Brennan and her famous restaurant family opened Mr. B’s and it’s a true French Quarter fixture famous for deft cooking of regional specialties in a warm bistro setting.
Mr. B’s serves Lunch Monday – Saturday from 11:30 am – 2:00 pm, Dinner nightly from 5:30 – 9:30 pm and Sunday Jazz Brunch from 10:30 am – 2:00 pm featuring Joe Simon’s Jazz.
“I simply cannot believe it’s been thirty years! It’s been a wild ride, complete with ups and downs but there’s no other place I would rather have been the past thirty years then right here at the corner of Royal and Iberville. It’s been a thrill growing up with loyal customers, wonderful friends, and our top-notch staff – our Mr. B’s family. Its home”, says Managing Partner Cindy Brennan who operates Mr. B’s and whose family name is synonymous with fine dining. Cindy goes on to say “Great New Orleans food enjoyed with wonderful friends is what has made Mr. B’s Simply Legendary - now for thirty years!”
To mark thirty years of service Mr. B’s will be offering specially priced Lunch, Dinner, and Sunday Jazz Brunches beginning Friday, July 17 – Sunday, August 30, 2009. The three-course packages all begin with a starter choice of Panko Shrimp on wilted spinach with spicy tasso and “Crystal” beurre blanc or a Summer Salad. Lunch entrée choices include a Jumbo Lump Crabcake Salad, Rosemary Chicken with baby carrots and orzo, or Gulf Fish En Papillotte. The Dinner entrée is a treat with a Summer Sampler of Demi Gulf Fish, Demi Bacon Wrapped Shrimp & Grits, and Demi Rabbit Tenderloin. Sunday Jazz Brunch entrees include a choice of Eggs Benedict, Classic Chicken Pontalba, and Gulf Fish Papillote, and a mimosa. For dessert each guest will be treated to a Mr. B’s Happy Birthday Cupcake. Yum!
